Ontario’s regulated sports betting market continues to grow as operators, one after the other, open shop in Ontario. A handful of operators recently joined the market at the end of March and beginning of April, Tonybet is one of them. Now, the sportsbook is one of over 30 operators competing in Ontario for the attention of bettors.
TonyBet Launch in Ontario with CPL Official Partnership
- Went live in Ontario on April 3
- Tonybet optimistic about competing in Ontario’s market despite amount of competition
- Official sports betting partner of the Canadian Premier League
Live in Ontario
Tonybet’s sports betting website went live in Ontario earlier this month. Tonybet is one of three sports betting sites to start taking online bets in the province since Coolbet announced its departure from Ontario’s regulated market on March 15. Although Ontario is now home to 31 iGO (iGaming Ontario) regulated operators, the sportsbook is optimistic about competing in the market.
With PowerPlay and NEObet also entering the market recently, Ontario bettors have a lot of options when it comes to choosing a sports betting site. And with new rules proposed for sports betting operators’ ability to use athletes and celebrities in advertisements, promoting its product might be tricky. When asked about the level of competition in the market, Tonybet said “the brand had large visibility before the regulation got in place. We're confident on being among top competitors thanks to our combination of exceptional services, specialized team and marketing activities.”
What is Unique About the Sportsbook?
With 30 operators to compete with, Tonybet commented on what makes its sportsbook unique. According to the sportsbook, “we offer the widest section of events and we do marketing activities in the region. And invest in other media spots.” The sportsbook has the four major sports, Esports, handball, volleyball, snooker, darts, waterpolo, and more. However, it does not offer many racing options outside of Indycar, Formula 1 and Nascar betting are not offered at the moment.
Tonybet is the official sports betting partner of the Canadian Premier League (CPL). The CPL announced their partnership with the sportsbook on April 12. Tonybet was named the presenting partner for the CPL’s match of the week broadcast on Onesoccer, the CPL’s predictor contest, and CPL’s Centre Circle app. The CPL explained the importance of the partnership in the release. “We look forward to working with them on experiences that engage our fans and enhance what it means to be a supporter of the CPL and Canadian soccer in general.”
