Serie A: Atalanta vs Inter Milan Betting Preview

A matchday 11 encounter between Atalanta and Inter Milan will steal the show this Saturday in Serie A as the two sides lock horns at 1 PM ET at Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo. The hosts are currently fourth in the table while the visitors are in top spot. Atalanta is coming off a very convincing win over Empoli on Monday, putting three past the relegation-threatened side. As for the Nerazzurri, they beat Jose Mourinho’s Roma over the weekend behind a late goal from Frenchman Marcus Thuram. We’ll discuss the H2H history between these two sides and analyze their recent form below.

Quick Take

  • Atalanta faces Inter Milan on Saturday, November 4th
  • Inter is a very slim favorite
  • Read below for the match preview

Inter the better side as of late

History is fully on Inter’s side. They’ve won three straight meetings with Atalanta, running out 3-2 and 1-0 winners last season. However, each of the last seven games between the two was either decided by one goal or ended level. We can expect a thrilling encounter on Saturday in Bergamo, with the hosts always capable of putting up a fight.

Atalanta great at home

Although Atalanta did miss out on a Champions League spot in 2022-23, they’re off to a respectable start this term. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men are just six points off the top in fourth, scoring 18 goals in 10 outings while conceding a mere eight times. They’ve remained rock solid at the back but could be a little bit more clinical in the final third. However, we saw what this attack could do on matchday 10, with Gianluca Scamacca netting a brace while Teun Koopmeiners also scored. Scamacca is the leading man up top, already bagging four goals in just seven appearances. Certainly a worthy signing for Atalanta after leaving West Ham in the summer.

The Black and Blues are especially thriving on home soil in 2023-24, posting a 3-1-0 record. In other words, Atalanta has dropped a mere two points in Bergamo. Gasperini’s outfit is also in solid form at the moment, tasting defeat just once in their last nine outings and that was earlier this month against Lazio. While it’s still very early in the season, finding even a lone point on Saturday will go a long way in Atalanta’s pursuit of a Champions League spot. And considering how well this club performs in front of their supporters, there’s a good chance we see them make life very difficult on Inter. Atalanta is a slim +213 underdog here at 888sport. Sportsbooks are giving the hosts a chance.

Inter looking like Scudetto contender

After a disappointing season last year to their standards domestically, Inter is back where they expect to be thus far. Simone Inzaghi’s group has gone 8-1-1, bagging 25 goals and only allowing five in their own net for a Serie A-best +20 goal difference. The Nerazzurri have also dropped a mere two points in their previous six games across all competitions, winning five and settling for just one draw. During that span, Inter beat the likes of Benfica, RB Salzburg, and most recently, Roma.

Inter honestly dominated Mourinho’s men in this fixture, controlling 63% of the ball and notching 19 shots. But, just three found the target. Their usual ruthless ways in front of goal were not present. That being said, Thuram saved the day with a classy finish. That’s 10 goal contributions in just 13 appearances for the club. The France international joined the Serie A giants on a free transfer and has undoubtedly proven his worth after Romelu Lukaku departed for Roma.

As previously mentioned Atalanta is great at home, but Inter is actually perfect on the road in league action, compiling a 4-0-0 record. In other words, it doesn’t matter where this side plays, they are producing the goods right now. All soccer betting sites have the visitors as a favorite, but not by much. Considering how past meetings turned out, Saturday will be must-see TV.
