Premier League: Arsenal vs Liverpool betting preview

Premier League action rolls on this weekend with matchday 23. Arguably the most intriguing of the lot is a clash between Arsenal and league leaders Liverpool, with kick-off scheduled for 2:30 PM EST at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are currently five points back of the Reds in third spot, which means a victory here would do wonders for them in their pursuit of the title. Both sides are also coming off victories mid-week. This should be an entertaining affair in North London. Below, we’ll preview the game.

Quick Take

  • Liverpool and Arsenal meet on Sunday
  • The Reds are currently at the top of the table

Head-to-head history

Recent meetings are definitely favoring Liverpool. They’ve only tasted defeat once in the last nine against Arsenal, winning five and drawing three. Back at the start of January, the Reds beat the Gunners 2-0 in the FA Cup by a score of 2-0.

Arsenal

Arsenal is enjoying a solid campaign and remains very much in the title race. They own a 14-4-4 record, bagging 44 goals in 22 games while conceding just 21. The Gunners did hit a cold spell towards the end of 2023 with three straight defeats across all competitions, but Mikel Arteta’s men have since figured things out. The North Londoners smashes Crystal Palace 5-0 on January 20th before taking down Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, 2-1.

Gabriel Jesus broke the deadlock in the 65th minute before Bukayo Saka doubled the lead just seven minutes later. Forest got one back, but it was too little too late. While facing Liverpool is always tough Arsenal is in good form and should feel confident about getting some type of result here. After all, they’re 8-2-1 on home soil this term.

The Gunners not only have the opportunity to compete for the title but the side is also in the Champions League Round of 16 and will face Porto later this month. Lots of chances to win some hardware. Arsenal is sitting at +120 odds for Sunday’s match at 888sport.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp announced that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the campaign, which is honestly just more motivation for the club to win all the silverware possible in 2023-24. And by the looks of it, that’s very much possible. The EPL title feels like it’s Liverpool’s for the taking given the way they’re playing. The Merseysiders are 15-6-1 and have scored a whopping 51 goals while conceding a mere 19.

Liverpool also hasn’t lost in the Premier League since September against Tottenham, which just goes to show how consistent this side is. On Wednesday, the Reds flexed their muscle against Chelsea, grabbing three points with a 4-1 victory at Anfield. Despite still being without Mo Salah due to injury, Klopp’s men were firing on all cylinders in the final third. Diogo Jota opened the scoring before Dominik Szoboszlai, Luis Diaz, and Conor Bradley all hit the back of the net as well.

The Reds have similar odds to Arsenal at most soccer betting sites. Yes, there are still some notable absences in the squad, but Liverpool is a strong side with boatloads of depth, especially up top. They will be looking to keep the hot streak going on Sunday.
