NBA: Will LeBron James Remain with the Los Angeles Lakers?

Multiple teams close to being eliminated from the playoffs

A bunch of teams are on the brink of elimination after the games over the weekend. The Denver Nuggets are up 3-1 on the Los Angeles Lakers. The Oklahoma City Thunder are up 3-0 on the New Orleans Pelicans. The New York Knicks are up 3-1 on the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Indiana Pacers are up 3-1 on the Milwaukee Bucks. At least a couple of these teams will most likely be going home after a game or two. The Lakers and Pelicans have almost no shot at winning their series after going down 3-0. No team in NBA history has won a series after going down 3-0.

Game five of the series between the Lakers and Nuggets is on April 29. The Nuggets are favoured in that game on the NBA betting sites, so right now the sportsbooks expect game five to be the last game of the 2023-2024 season for the Lakers. Where will LeBron James play next?

With Bronny James, LeBron’s son, on his way to the NBA and the Lakers’ championship window looking almost closed, one of the biggest mysteries in the NBA right now is whether or not James will stay with the Lakers or find a way to play with his son somewhere else. James has publicly talked about his desire to play for an NBA team with his son. And Bodog is taking bets for this. The odds are -200 for James to retire as a Laker.

At +450 the Cleveland Cavaliers have the best odds to sign or trade for James if he moves on from the Lakers. The Philadelphia 76ers are next at +750. The Dallas Mavericks at +1000, Golden State Warriors at +1200, and New York Knicks at +1600 are the only other teams with odds better than +2000.

Off-season movement around the NBA

Outside of the James family, there are still a lot of unknowns for next season. After losing in the Play-In Tournament, many in the NBA world believe the time has come to end the Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green era in Golden State. At -130 on Bodog, you can bet on the Warriors to keep all three. You can bet on one of them moving to another team at -110.
