UCL History & H2H

The reigning champions of the tournament are Real Madrid, who City managed to knock out in the semifinals in convincing fashion. The Sky Blues were actually in the final in 2021 but lost to Premier League rivals Chelsea in Portugal by a score of 1-0. This is the first competitive meeting between City and Inter. The Nerazzurri have had success in the UCL before, but it’s been a while. They won it all in 2010 under Jose Mourinho.

Treble For City?

So much history is on the line for Man City, although that won’t exactly matter to them. The only goal is actually winning the Champions League, a tournament that has managed to slip through their fingertips for many, many years. To be brutally honest, Pep Guardiola’s men absolutely deserve to lift the trophy. They’ve been dominant throughout both the group stages and the knockout stages, not losing once.

The Cityzens had a 4-2-0 record in group action before taking out RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, and most recently, Real Madrid. City absolutely wiped the floor with the title-holders, winning 5-1 on aggregate. It was a 1-1 stalemate in the first leg before they throttled Los Blancos 4-0 in the reverse fixture on home soil behind Bernardo Silva’s brace.

When it comes to form, Man City couldn’t be looking any better. The side just won the FA Cup at the weekend with a 2-1 victory at Wembley over Manchester United and have now tasted defeat a mere one time in their last 26 matches. 21 of those games ended in their favor. There is a clear reason the EPL standouts are a -220 favorite at Bodog for Saturday’s affair.

Inter Looking to Pull Off The Unthinkable

To be frank, no one could’ve even predicted Inter would be at this stage. They were third in Serie A this term and weren’t exactly consistent throughout the campaign. But, Simone Inzaghi’s group is here and hungry for the chance to prove the doubters wrong.

The Nerazzurri’s journey to the showpiece wasn’t easy. They had to get past Porto, Benfica, and AC Milan in the knockout stages. Inter beat their city rivals 3-0 across both legs to cruise into the final. Lautaro Martinez’s lone goal in the second tie sealed the deal. The Argentine is easily their biggest threat in the final third, scoring 21 Serie A goals in 2022-23 and also netting three times in the Champions League.

The Italians finished off the season with three straight wins, besting Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia Final before also defeating Atalanta and then Torino over the weekend. Marcelo Brozovic produced the goods on Saturday. No soccer betting sites are giving Inter any chance to beat the superior side in Man City. In a one-legged final though, truly anything is possible. Saturday should be quite the treat.
