LoL: Top four teams go head to head on July 5

Four of the five teams with the best records in the NA LCS will go head to head on July 5. The 7-2 Cloud9 team will battle the 6-3 Golden Guardians in a rematch of the Spring Split Finals.

The 7-2 Evil Geniuses will take on 5-4 Dignitas. Right now, these are some of the best teams in the LCS. It doesn’t get much better than this for NA League of Legends fans.

Quick Take

  • Top four current LCS teams face off
  • Cloud9 favoured in a rematch of the NA LCS Spring Split Finals
  • Evil Geniuses favoured against Dignitas

GG vs C9

The reigning spring split champions Cloud9 are the betting favourites in this matchup on LoL betting sites. They have -232 odds on Tonybet to win this game. Cloud9 has been one of the best teams in the LCS all split. They have already defeated all of the other top four teams in the league and beat EG in their last game. They look like their at the top of their games, C9 destroyed EG in their last game 25-3, handing them their second loss of the split.

Golden Guardians are the underdogs ahead of this match. GG has +163 odds to win the game on Tonybet. After reaching the finals in the spring split, GG has come back with a solid summer split performance so far. GG opened the split with a close loss to C9, so there is a real possibility they pull off the upset. C9’s team fighting was a big factor in the first game.

GG was competitive in the game until they lost a couple of key team fights. They were able to limit Robert “Blaber” Huang’s impact in the first meeting, GG will probably need to limit him again if they want to have a chance. On paper, C9 is the stronger team and seems to have GG’s number.

EG vs DIG

Evil Geniuses are the betting favourites in this game. They have -204 odds to win on Tonybet. Dignitas are the underdogs with +145 odds. DIG defeated EG in a close game when these two teams met earlier in the split. Both of these teams need this game to separate themselves in the standings because EG is tied with C9 for the best record in the LCS and DIG is tied with Team Liquid for the fourth best record.

The Evil Geniuses are one of the biggest surprises in LoL this year. EG has four new starters. Their only starter from the last split is Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun. Regardless, EG has a 7-2 record and has only lost to C9 and Dignitas, two of the top five teams in the LCS. Their recent loss to C9 was EG’s first loss since June 16. EG has been a strong team so far, but they suffered a bad loss to C9. There may have been a couple of weaknesses exposed that other teams can take advantage of.

At 5-4, Dignitas has been a competitive team. They’ve beaten most of the teams in the middle of the standings and have a win over EG. DIG has also lost to the team with the worst record in the LCS, the 2-7 Immortals. But if Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen is at his best, it is hard to count out DIG.
