Devin Haney the betting favourite ahead of fight with Vasiliy Lomachenko

Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko are two of the biggest names in boxing. Both men have myriad of accomplishments in the ring, from titles to Olympic gold medals. It doesn’t get much bigger than this. The two will fight on May 20 for the Undisputed Lightweight Championship. For Haney, this fight is about his legacy. For Lomachenko, this fight is about fulfilling a dream of becoming an undisputed champion. 

Haney vs Lomachenko

Lightweight champion Devin Haney will defend his Undisputed Lightweight Championship against Vasiliy Lomachenko on May 20 in one of the biggest boxing matches of the year. The fight will take place in Las Vegas at the MGM Garden Arena. Haney and Lomachenko are considered to be two of the top lightweights and pound for pound boxers in the world. 

Four years ago Haney’s team was told the fight would never happen, according to Haney’s father. Haney said he’s wanted this fight since 2019. “I’ve been begging for it, calling for it.” For him, this fight is about cementing his legacy as one of the best boxers in the world. Now Haney is the undisputed champion, and Lomachenko is fighting to achieve undisputed champ status, one of the few accolades that has eluded him thus far in his boxing career.  It’s been a dream since becoming a professional boxer, according to Lomachenko.

Devin “The Dream” Haney 

The betting favourite for this fight is Devin Haney. Haney has -250 odds to win the fight on BetVictor. Haney is undefeated in his professional career with a 29-0 record. Although Lomachenko has only lost to two fighters in his professional career, Haney defeated George Kambosos Jr., who beat one of the guys Lomachenko lost to.  Haney became the undisputed lightweight champion by defeating Kambosos Jr. in 2022 and defeated him again in a rematch four months later.

Haney won his last six fights by decision. He currently has -163 odds to win this fight by decision on BetVictor. Vasiliy “Loma” Lomachenko

Lomachenko is the underdog on sports betting sites heading into this fight. Lomachenko is a +200 underdog on BetVictor. For years, Lomachenko has been recognized as one of the best boxers in the world. He is a two-time olympic gold medalist and was 396-1 as an amateur boxer. Lomachenko has a 17-2 professional record. He was once considered by many to be the number one pound for pound boxer in the world and has won titles in three weight classes. Lomachenko is still regarded as a top competitor, but a win against Haney could cement his status. To pick up the win, he will need to defeat a younger and bigger fighter.
