Head-to-head history

As you can imagine, there’s a rich history between these two English giants. However, in recent memory, things have gone the way of the North Londoners. Arsenal has won five of the last six against Chelsea and have notched three consecutive road victories at Stamford Bridge. On top of that, the Gunners are a perfect 3-0 away from the Emirates this term, keeping three clean sheets and netting six times. Needless to say, the visitors have all the reasons to be confident.

Chelsea finding themselves

It’s been a serious adjustment for Chelsea in 2023-24 with a brand new squad from top to bottom for the most part. A lot of players departed in the summer, with many youngsters coming in. And while the Blues are still in 11th place with a 3-2-3 record, they’re starting to trend in the right direction. Mauricio Pochettino’s men beat Brighton in the League Cup in late September before grabbing two wins against Fulham and Burnley, respectively.

Chelsea hammered the Clarets 4-1 and finally started to show some promise in the final third. Cole Palmer, Raheem Sterling, and Nicolas Jackson all hit the back of the net after Burnley’s own goal. While Vincent Kompany’s side isn’t exactly elite, it was the type of performance that can help the Blues gain some confidence. This next spell of games is going to be as difficult as can be, though. Chelsea faces Arsenal, Brentford, Tottenham, and Man City across the next three weeks. Most soccer betting sites have the hosts as a very slim underdog on Saturday at The Bridge.

Arsenal flying high

The Gunners couldn’t be in better form to begin the EPL campaign. They’ve yet to taste defeat, compiling an impressive 6-2-0 record in eight outings. Their only loss came in the Champions League, with French outfit RC Lens beating them. Although it’s early in the season, Arsenal does sit in top spot alongside Tottenham, with both clubs sitting two points clear of title-holders Man City.

Speaking of the Sky Blues, Arsenal produced the goods in front of the Emirates faithful back on October 8th in a thrilling 1-0 win over the reigning champions. Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli was the difference-maker, scoring the winner in the 86th minute in emphatic fashion, beating his compatriot Ederson. In fact, that was the second time in 2023-24 that the Gunners have bested City, also defeating them in the Community Shield in August.

Bukayo Saka is the leading man in the final third for Mikel Arteta’s squad, scoring four goals. He actually missed out on his first game in over two years against Man City due to an injury. Saka didn’t suit up for England on the international break due to the ailment but he’s expected to be fit this weekend. Arsenal is a +130 favorite to come out victorious at Bodog.
