Paul fought former NBA guard Nate Robinson on the undercard of the Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr. exhibition card. Paul won his fight by knockout. The fight between Tyson and Jones Jr. ended in a draw.

Paul is the early betting favourite on Bodog. Bodog is taking bets on the fight for six rounds and 10 rounds. Paul is a -285 betting favourite for a potential six-round fight. Tyson is a +210 early underdog if the fight is scheduled for six rounds. “If the fight is announced for more than 6 rounds, all bets void.” At 10 rounds, Paul is a bigger favourite. He has -400 odds for a potential ten-round fight. Tyson’s odds fell to +275 for 10 rounds. “Fight must be scheduled for a minimum of 10 rounds for bets to have action.”

At 57 years old, is Mike Tyson worth considering?

The last time we saw Mike Tyson in a boxing ring was against Roy Jones Jr. in November of 2020. Tyson looked like a man who had trained, prepared, and was ready to fight. He fought another legend in the sport and held his own, enough to walk away with a draw. Now, almost four years later, Tyson is getting back into the ring. If Tyson is similar to the fighter that showed up in 2020, he should have a decent shot in this fight.

Tyson looked like he still had a lot of power in his punches and was in good enough condition to fight for the entire eight rounds. He did not stop pressuring Jones Jr. until the fight ended, a sign that he still had something left in the tank. Tyson spoke about his performance and stamina after the decision was announced.

“I was very happy to be here. Despite what anybody said, I was still happy to go the eight rounds because everybody knows I can knock somebody out. Then everybody knows I can go eight and ten rounds. That is what I am more grateful for now than anything. Knockouts do not mean nothing, you got to be able to go the distance, that is fighting.”

Can Jake Paul beat a boxing legend?

If Tyson was 10-15 years younger than he is now, he would probably be the betting favourite by a decent margin. But he is not. Paul is the much younger and fresher fighter, meaning he has not taken nearly as much damage throughout his boxing career as Tyson has. Paul’s biggest advantages in this fight should be his youth and stamina. Paul will probably have a better shot in a fight against Tyson if he can get a ten-round fight because of his age. Tyson should have a better shot in a shorter fight.

If Paul can force Tyson to chase him and move throughout the fight, he should have a chance. Whether or not Tyson still has knockout power is up for debate, but his power will not matter if Paul can evade and move. Outside of that, this fight should be decided by Tyson. If he has something left in the tank, there is no reason he can not outbox Paul or stop him, especially in a shorter fight. Paul has wins in the boxing ring against former MMA greats, but Tyson is one of the greatest heavyweights in boxing history.
