2024-25 Premier League futures: Manchester City favored to win 5th straight title

With Euro 2024 and Copa America now in the rearview, it’s time to focus on the upcoming domestic campaigns. Over in England, the Premier League begins in just under a month, with matchday one starting on August 16th. By no surprise, title-holders Manchester City are the favorite to win it all again, having taken home the ultimate prize in four straight years already. Arsenal is also one to watch, while Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United should be in the top-four mix. Below, we’ll provide a preview of the best sides.

Quick Take

  • Manchester City is a heavy favorite to win the EPL title
  • Arsenal, who were runners-up last term, are also in the mix
  • Keep reading for the preview

Manchester City

Who else at the top? City is one of the best clubs in the entire world and it won’t be any different in 2024-25. Erling Haaland is coming off his second straight EPL Golden Boot, bagging 27 league goals en route to the title. From front to back, this side is absolutely elite. Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Jeremy Doku, and Julian Alvarez. The list goes on and on. City hasn’t made many moves in the summer transfer window but they also haven’t lost any talent, either. The Sky Blues finished two points clear of Arsenal last term. Anything less than another title would be considered a disappointment for Man City. That’s the truth of the matter. Pep Guardiola’s men have +110 title odds at 888sport.

Arsenal

The Gunners had every opportunity over the last two seasons to win it all but failed to do so. Regardless, it’s clear Arsenal is becoming more and more of a force and they have a very impressive core. Bukayo Saka just scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists, while Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Martinelli all did their part, too. The Gunner bagged the second-most goals in the top flight and conceded a league-low 29 times. They also made the Champions League quarterfinals. Arsenal has made no major moves this summer. We’ll see if they can give City a run for their money in the title race.

Liverpool

The Reds’ attack could be one of the best in the world with options such as Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Cody Gakpo. However, things look different in the Anfield dugout. Jurgen Klopp stepped down and ex-Feyenoord boss Arne Slot replaced him. It’s hard to know how Slot will do in charge of such a massive club considering he hasn’t managed outside of the Eredivisie. Liverpool was third last season in the Premier League table and were led by Salah, who netted 18 times and provided 10 assists. They have the third-best title odds at soccer betting sites.

Chelsea

I’m not going to say Chelsea will compete for a title after finishing in sixth place in 2023-24, but we should see improvements. The fact of the matter is that the Blues are in a bit of a rebuild but the young talent they have in the squad cannot be overlooked. Cole Palmer proved to be a star, scoring 22 times and setting up another 11 in 33 league appearances while also shining for England at Euro 2024. Nicolas Jackson’s debut campaign at Stamford Bridge also went well. Reece James barely played last term and should be healthy for the upcoming season. That’s huge for Chelsea on both ends of the pitch. I could see them definitely in a Champions League spot, so a top-four bet is probably best for the Blues.
